Arterial embolization is a procedure that consists of blocking an artery with a special material in order to stop the blood from circulating through it. This procedure is effective as it deprives tumors of the oxygen and other substances and nutrients they received through blood flow, thus, stopping their growth and shrinking them. Additionally, this procedure can also relieve the patient of painful symptoms when tumor removal surgery is not a viable option.
