Dr. Moon Nahm, a specialist in Anatomic Pathology, has a remarkable medical practice experience of over 40 years. He received his degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed his residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. In addition to his training in the Pathology Department, Dr. Nahm also underwent post-doctoral research training in the Microbiology Department. He directed the clinical immunology laboratory for UAB hospitals as well. Dr. Moon Nahm’s research focuses on diagnosis of bacterial infections, bacterial pathogenesis and immune responses to pneumococcal polysaccharide antigens, and he is also the inventor of the multiplexed opsonophagocytosis assay (MOPA), which has represented a great achievement in regards to vaccine evaluation. Over the course of his career, Dr. Nahm has contributed to numerous publications and is currently affiliated with Birmingham VA Medical Center and University of Alabama Hospital.
