Specializing in mesothelioma treatment, specifically extrapleural pneumonectomy and pleurectomy/decortication, Dr. Kernstine graduated from Duke University. Dr. Kemp Kernstine studied as a resident in general thoracic track at Harvard Medical School. He was also a general surgery resident at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Kernstine is currently the Chairman of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Care Center and specializes in the treatment of mesothelioma, esophageal and lung cancers. Dr. Kernstine’s focus is on robotic interventions and similar minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Kernstine was a professor and medical doctor at the Beckman Research Institute in Duarte, California, the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
