Dr. Traves Crabtree currently practices at the Barnes Jewish Hospital as a thoracic surgeon. His career as a medical doctor began at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, which he graduated from in 1995. Going on to complete his residency at the University of Virginia Department of Surgery, Dr. Crabtree is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Crabtree completed two fellowships, at the University of Virginia in 1999 and at the Washington University School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Crabtree specializes in a very special, video-assisted surgical intervention developed towards the treatment of mesothelioma.

“Dr. Crabtree removed my mother’s lung cancer 9 months ago. Since then it came back, affecting her right lung and it used to block her airways. He managed to remove the tumor and open her airways again. I am thankful that we live close enough to St. Louis and that our local hospital was able to transfer her there. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Crabtree. ”
