The vice chief of the surgical services division at the Duke Cancer Institute, Dr. David Harpole specializes in thoracic surgery, with board certifications in general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Harpole started his studies at the Washington & Lee University, graduating from the University of Virginia medical school in 1984. He studied as a resident and fellow at the Duke University Medical Center. Over the years, Dr. Harpole practiced in several hospitals and medical centers, including the Lung Cancer Prognostic Research and even occupied a position as a professor at the Duke University Medical Center. “Death was knocking at my door. I was in coma after several failed surgeries. Dr. Kussin managed to get in contact with Dr. Harpole who was in the middle of his vacation. I never met a man like him, to put his plans on hold for someone who needed a surgery. My sister said that he walked in the room and told her that I will be ok. It has been a year since the day Dr. Harpole saved my life. I have never met him, but I pray for him and his family. ”
