Pet scan for Mesothelioma & Lung Cancer Patients

Free Chest X-Ray Evaluation

PET (positron emission tomography) scan represents an efficient way of detecting mesothelioma. This technique involves the injection into a vein of a radioactive material in small amount. The tracer is carried by the blood and collected in organs and tissues. The patient lies on a narrow table, which will slide into a tunnel-shaped scanner. A PET scan can diagnose cancer, determine if a tumor is cancerous or how far the cancer has spread. A PET is also able to determine how well an organ functions by measuring the oxygen use, the blood flow or sugar metabolism.
