Chemotherapy is an aggressive treatment used to reduce tumors and killing cancer cells with the use of powerful drugs. The most commonly used combination of drugs for patients with pleural mesothelioma is cisplatin and pemetrexed, but other combinations may be used, which include gemcitabine, carboplatin, vinorelbine, mitomycin and raltitrexed.
