Can metallic implants prevent me from having an MRI scan performed?

Metallic implants can often interfere with the MRI scanner, causing loss of signal or distorting the images it produces. Moreover, it is possible that devices such as peacemakers or neurostimulators will malfunction during an MRI examination. However, having a medical implant within your body does not disqualify you from having this procedure.

Provided you inform the technician about the presence of such implants before entering the examination room, an MRI scan can be performed and thus the technician will also be aware of potential image distortions while analyzing the results.

We wanted a resource where people who are looking for better help can find it, because one of the issues that I have found is that the diagnosis takes a little bit, some people don’t know if they are diagnosed or not. This is something that it is important enough, that is why I wanted to put the information together.
