Dr. Akira Kawashima graduated the medical school from the Kagoshima University and did his internship at the Kyushu University. He completed two residency programs: one at the Kyushu University and the other at the University of Texas Health Science Center. A fellowship followed at the Johns Hopkins University soon after that. He is specialized in radiology and board certified in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Kawashima has been in practice for more than 20 years and is affiliated with the Saint Mary's Campus and Mayo Clinic Hospital. During his career, he has also contributed to over 100 publications of medical interest.
