New clinical trials will be open for mesothelioma patients willing to test out a new drug, named Vorinostat. The experimental treatment will be conducted by specialists, scientists and doctors in mesothelioma cancer.
The drug is manufactured by the Merck& Co. Company, under the brand named Zolinza. The company has developed other clinical trials in the past and completed successfully the Phase II of the trials.
These new clinical trials which will be opened to test the drug Vorinostat will represent Phase III of the clinical trial program. Advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma patients will be treated with this new drug that is considered by the scientists a drug that will help patients to fight better the cancer.
Patients suffering from advanced stages of mesothelioma can also try out the new drug. Sometimes, mesothelioma symptoms appear even after 30 years form the asbestos exposure, so it is very hard to diagnose the disease in time. As soon as diagnosed as better. In early stages of mesothelioma cancer the organism will respond better to treatments administrated specifically.
The Vorinostat drug is found under the form of an oral tablet and its chemical name is suberoylanilide hidroxamic acid.
During the trial, patients will be permanently monitored by doctors and nurses with experience in mesothelioma cancer cases; they will also administrate the drug to the patients. Some of the patients will receive placebos instead of the real Vorinostat.
Phase III is expected to be a success and patients treated with the novel drug are expected to be cured in no time. Result of this clinical trial will established if the tablets will be used along with other therapies for curing mesothelioma cancer.
To participate to this clinical trial, there are some conditions, like: must be eighteen years old with a confirmed diagnosis of mesothelioma cancer. Pregnant females will not participate and patients who have undergone recently an antibiotics treatment will also be excluded for the clinical trials.
