Dr. Steven Grunberg is a highly experienced medical oncologist and internist with more than 35 years of experience. He can be found at the Lung Multidisciplinary Clinic, Burlington, Vermont. His sub-specialties include hematology and oncology and he’s a specialist when it comes to Brain Cancer, Head and Neck Cancer, Lung Cancer(including Mesothelioma) and Pain. He is currently also a professor at the University of Vermont since 1993 and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has been awarded the reputed Castle Connolly America's Top Doctors Award in 2009 and the Castle Connolly America's Top Doctors for Cancer Award for 2005-06 and another one recently in 2009.

He graduated from Cornell University School of Medicine in 1975 and followed it up with a residency at the University of California, San Francisco, CA in Internal Medicine which he completed in 1978. Consequently, he pursued another residency in medical oncology from the prestigious Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thereafter, he undertook a fellowship at the Sidney Farber Cancer Institute in Medical Oncology.

What is mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original site to other parts of the body. Most cases of mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum.
