Dr. Stephen C. Yang, M.D. is a thoracic surgery expert. He finished B.A in Chemistry at Duke University and completed medical degree at Medical College of Virginia. He completed residency in general surgery at University Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He did cardiothoracic fellowship at Medical College of Virginia and thoracic oncology surgery fellowship at M.D Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Yang has clinical interests in Mesothelioma, Esophageal Cancer , Lung Cancer , Lung Diseases, lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema, Lung transplantation - Adult and Pediatric programs, CT scanning for early diagnosis of tobacco related diseases and Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery(VATS)/ Thoracoscopy Diagnosis and treatment of lung.
His research interests include development of molecular markers for early diagnosis of recurrent lung cancer following surgical resection, molecular biology of mesothelioma, detection of teleomerase activity as a guide for the presence of lung cancer and development of molecular markers for early diagnosis of lung cancer. He is board certified from American Board of Surgery, American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Faculty of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and Faculty of the College of Chest Physicians (F.C.C.S.).
