Dr. Lambros Zellos is currently the clinical Co-director of the International Mesothelioma Program; he is also an instructor of surgery at the Harvard Medical School and a thoracic surgeon at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a doctor specialized in mesothelioma and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Zellos attended the University of Maryland College Park, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, in 1990. He continued his medical studies in Georgetown at the University School of Medicine in Washington D.C and received his Medical Degree in 1994. He also attended Harvard University of Public Health in 2001, receiving a master degree in Public Health.
He completed his general surgery residency at the Georgetown University Medical Center. He became a research fellow in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in West Roxbury, Virginia and another one at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
Dr. Zellos is board certified By the American Board of Thoracic Surgery since 2005. His medical interest refers to: multimodal approach to treat mesothelioma cancer and other types of pleural cancer, extrapleural pneumonectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
He is also a member of American Medical Association, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and of the American College of Surgeons.

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original site to other parts of the body. Most cases of mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum.
