Dr. Gregory P. Kalemkerian is the Co-Director of the Thoracic Oncology Program at the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Health System, in Ann Arbor. He is also an Associate Professor for Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Cancer Center.
Dr. Kalemkerian's clinical interests include: malignant mesothelioma cancer, lung cancer, thoracic cancer, epidemiology of lung cancer, and thymoma.
He attended the Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and received his medical degree in 1985. Dr. Kalemkerian continued with a residency, between 1985-1989, at the same Northwestern University in Chicago. After this he completed a fellowship in medical oncology at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine. In 1991 he was board certified in medical oncology and in 1998 in internal medicine.
His research interest is in experimental therapeutics, he has studied the cellular and molecular effects of retinoids. He also designed clinical trials on his laboratory findings.He is also very interested in developing drugs to fight malignant mesothelioma cancer, lung cancer and esophageal cancer.
Dr. Gregory P. Kalemkerian is an active member of the Southwest Oncology Group and Radiation Therapy Oncology group. He is a mesothelioma doctor and he is very dedicated to his work. Dr. Kalemkerian is also an active member of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery.
