Dr. Graeme L. Hammond earned his Bachelor Degree of Science at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. After this he decided to attend medical school at the McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Hammond's surgery internship was completed at royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Canada. His residency was completed, along with his fellowship at Massachusetts general Hospital in Boston.
He also served as a visiting researcher scientist for a year in the Department pf Biochemistry at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Hammond became a clinical researcher at Mass General and is now a Professor and a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Yale University School of Medicine.
Graeme L. Hammond is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His clinical interest are based on MHC suppression which refers to the major histocompatibility complex; he is also interested in mesothelioma and lung cancer, thoracic surgery, and especially in asbestos related diseases.
Dr. Hammond is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, a member of the American College of Surgeons, member of the American Heart Association and many others. He received a number of honors for his work over his career.
