Dr. Claire F. Verschraegen graduated Magna Cum Laude, in 1982, at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, in Belgium. She also completed the Internship and residency in Oncology Department at the Univeriste Libre in Belgium. Her internal medical training was completed at the University of Texas Health Science center in Houston, Texas and M.D Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Verschraengen completed her first fellowship in 1992, in Baudor, Belgium and her second fellowship was completed at the University of Texas, Houston, in Oncology in year 1994. Her cancer research work was very intense when she joined the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research under the direction of the well known Dr. Beppino Giovanella.
Dr.Claire F. Verschraehen is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Medical Oncology from the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Belgian Department of Human Health. She was awarded by the Belgium Association of University Women with the Occino-Kernkamp Prize and she was a Fullbright Fellow.
Aditionally, dr. Verschraegen is a member of the Education Committee of the International Gynecological Cancer Society and also a member of the Scientific Board of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. In present she is the Director of the Clinical Trial Office and one of the Investigational Drug Program at the Cancer Research and Treatment Center of the University of New Mexico.
Her medical interest is focused on: mesothelioma cancer, apendiceal cancer, gynecological cancer, new anticancer drugs for these diseases.
