The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation is part of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. It is considered the most outstanding center of excellence and the premier cancer research and treatment facility in the state of Arkansas.

The cancer center is the only comprehensive cancer center in the state, accredited by the National Institute of Cancer.

Professional physicians, nurses, scientist and researchers created the Rockefeller Cancer Institute and today it is one of the most respected cancer institutes in the United States.

Cancer institute scientists are dedicated to their research work concerning the reduction of cancer incidence, mortality and morbidity in Arkansas City. They are focused on developing new drugs and treatment strategies that can fight better cancer disorders.

Winthrop Cancer Institute provides different programs for cancer patients such as: research programs including cancer control, prevention and disparities, interventional oncology and host response, survivorship and behavior; shared resources: clinical translational research core, population profiling core, imaging core, office of grants and scientific publications; disease specific science: breast group, myeloma group, head and neck group and prostate group.

The research team is also focused on mesothelioma cancer and they have developed several clinical trials to study the malignant mesothelioma cancer.
