If you are a resident of North Carolina and you need to check out a cancer resource that is the best available, there is only one place to look: The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the N.C. Cancer Hospital, which is the cancer center's clinical home. This is the epicenter of cancer research and treatment in North Carolina.

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center was instituted in 1975 by the National Cancer Institute as one of only 40 -designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S. Over 35 years down the line, the center has come a long way since then and taken huge strides in changing the face of cancer in the state. Staff comprises eminent persons from more than 40 departments of the University of North Carolina, such as the Gillings School of Global Public Health, the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, the School of Medicine, the School of Dentistry and the College of Arts and Sciences.

The 294 member team of the center is vectored on reducing both the occurrence of cancer and the suffering associated with the dreaded disease. The means to this end is research, treatment, training and outreach. The Comprehensive Cancer Support Program (CCSP) of UNC Lineberger is especially designed to address the needs of cancer patients. It is a multidisciplinary program that serves cancer patients and caregivers by providing the best cancer treatment, as well improving the chances of recovery and survivorship. The program includes experts from different professions and areas of expertise who provide the latest methods of helping cancer patients get back their life with compassionate and meaningful support.
