Efforts of the last 40 years have brought the Eppley Cancer Center to the forefront of the fight against cancer. The only cancer center in Nebraska with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation, Eppley’s approach includes offering patients:

  • the most current and innovative treatment options available;
  • cutting-edge research; and
  • state-of-the-art care.

The accreditation by NCI comes out of achieving scientific excellence in the domain of cancer and the competence to amalgamate diverse research programs focused on cancer. Of note, Eppley is the founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network; this is a coalition of 19 of the world’s top cancer centers that have the responsibility of developing standards and setting guidelines for treating cancer patients.

Eppley Cancer Center’s physicians and scientists are engaged in making new discoveries and translating these into innovative treatments. These are then administered to patients in a caring and compassionate manner by a team of dedicated nursing staff who work in tandem with physicians and patients to develop a specialized plan of care for each individual patient. The services offered at the Center include chemotherapy, radiation, out-patient surgery, blood product administration, intravenous antibiotics, and evaluation of urgent problems as needed.

In short, the Eppley Cancer Center provides cancer patients and their loved ones the best weapon there is for fighting cancer: Hope.

Questions & Answers

What is mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original site to other parts of the body. Most cases of mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum.
