For the past hundred years, Swedish Medical Center Cancer Institute has been serving the people of the Greater Seattle area through its three locations in Seattle. It is known for its personalized care and excellence in health care as evidenced by an independent research study conducted by the National Research Corp. The study reveled that “Swedish is consistently named the area's best hospital, with the best doctors, nurses and overall care in a variety of specialty areas.” It is certainly the largest, most comprehensive, nonprofit health provider in the area.

More than being a meeting point for facilities, research and new techniques, Swedish is proud of being the epicenter for those who believe in compassionate care as a panacea for the terminally ill. It is little wonder that the Swedish team comprises nurses, physicians, social workers and dietitians each of whom personify what excellence really means.

In an attempt to remain the best, the Swedish Cancer Institute offers the latest options for treatment and supportive care, as well as consistently strives to improve the quality and depth of all its services. To this end, eight new cancer surgeons were hired in the last fiscal, new quality assurance initiatives were put in place, and new programs and facilities such as the True Family Women’s Cancer Center are being proposed.

It is no wonder that Swedish was conferred the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2009 by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (CoC) survey, the highest level of achievement possible for a hospital cancer program.
