The people of Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska can gain access to the best cancer care from advanced medical oncology and radiation oncology services at the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center (SNCC). Demonstrated expertise in patient care reflects in all services, including cancer diagnosis, treatment and patient support.

Of special note is the fact that SNCC was the first healthcare facility in Nebraska and the sixth private cancer center in the United States to introduce a cancer diagnostic technology that was named a top medical innovation for 2009. The circulating tumor cell (CTC) test uses extremely sensitive technology to detect metastatic cancer cells by drawing blood from the patient in a routine procedure. This brings great hope to patients being treated for cancer as it can measure the progression of cancer by detecting cancer cells in the blood.

Further, in 2008, SNCC initiated a federally funded program that asks cancer patients to donate surgically removed tumor tissue to scientific programs. This aids in research into genetic material and how it affects treatment results. 50 Lincoln-area physicians and more than 250 cancer patients are part of the initiative.
