Somerset Medical Center is a 355-bed regional medical center located in Central New Jersey. A nationally accredited institution, it is an affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and the clinical research affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Recently, a new emergency department, new inpatient oncology and surgical pavilions and expanded surgical suites were added as part of expansion plans resulting in the availability of a comprehensive range of outpatient cancer services in one location. Somerset offers a variety of services to residents including emergency, medical/surgical and rehabilitative services. It also conducts a broad range of community programs, such as health fairs, free screenings and seminars and has a number of support groups. Staff of 650 medical professionals represents all major medical and surgical specialties. In fact, it leads in the number of board-certified doctors in one hospital in the New Jersey area.

Further, the medical center initiated a $10 million technology upgrade in the form of clinical computer systems, adding safety features and enhancing patient care. In fact, in 2005 Somerset Medical Center was named a Performance Improvement Leader by Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals and one of the 25 “Most Improved Hospitals” in information technology in the nation by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
