Saint Alphonsus Medical Center was founded in 1894 by the Sister of the Holly Cross, in Boise, Idaho. It was the first hospital established in the area and it was dedicated to poor and undeserved cancer patients from Boise community and the surrounding area.

Their mission is to serve for those in need, to heal the body, mind and spirit, to improve the health of the communities, to promote balance, to create a link between healthcare and church’s role.

The center has developed a program called Virtual Monitoring and Care Initiatives, which uses telemedicine to reach out to patients who are homebound on in rural areas that lack mobility or access to health care centers and medical services.

The Saint Alphonsus Cancer Center Care is dedicated to outpatient treatment, and provides medical radiation, hormonal and radiation oncology and also important and advanced treatments for blood disorders.

They use advance imaging, radiation therapies, chemotherapy, early diagnosis, they are also focused on drug administration and nutrition for cancer patients during and after the treatment.

They tried to create a warm and healing design of the cancer center so the patients can fell the calm atmosphere in the center during their treatment; this is part of the program called Advance Healing developed by the Saint Alphonsus Center.
