The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) in Cleveland, Ohio, is a part of the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). It supports all cancer related research efforts at CWRU, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and the Cleveland Clinic. 3.8 million people in Northern Ohio can avail the services pertaining to cancer research and clinical needs of cancer patients.
Under the aegis of The National Cancer Institute (NCI), The Center operates a Cancer Information Service (CIS) that includes an active outreach program. The outreach program opts for prevention and screening initiatives, educational programs, minority recruitment, and facilitation of patient referrals for all kinds of cancer, including mesothelioma. In addition, Case CCC is a member of NCI's CaBIG initiative. This means that it is actively looking to add features critical for future research such as electronic databases for clinical trials, tissue repositories, and related bioinformatics.
Nine interdisciplinary scientific programs plus one program initiative are being run at Case CCC. This includes 11 Clinical Trials Disease Teams that develop and prioritize clinical trials between the partner institutions. The aim is to combine cancer research, cancer therapeutics, and prevention services at the partner institutions and throughout the region. Program members work collaboratively on a broad range of cancer related topics, such as genetics, Cell Death Regulation, Cancer Cell Signaling, GU Malignancies, Stem Cells and Hematologic Malignancies, Developmental Therapeutics and others.

Mesothelioma (cancer of the mesothelium) is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also metastasize (spread) from their original site to other parts of the body. Most cases of mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum.
