Brigham and Women's Hospital is a well-known teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. It is home to the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center that helps fight cancer with the most advanced treatment available. The two institutions are connected by bridges, with Dana-Farber taking outpatients and Brigham and Women's the inpatients.

Different types of cancer such as lymphoma and types of mesothelioma are treated in 12 specialized centers of the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center. World-renowned physicians and researchers work tirelessly to develop new ways to prevent cancer and develop new therapies. Some key milestones attest to this claim:

• Development of the CA 125 test, the first and only biomarker for ovarian cancer;
