The UAB Cancer Center was established in the late `60 and now is one of the most prestigious cancer centers in the whole world, known as a national leader in cancer research and treatment. The UAB Cancer Center is the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center located in a six state area, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina and Georgia.

The Cancer Center is known at the international level, because its research work and interest in developing innovative monoclonal antibody approaches to cancer therapy.

The center has also developed important cancer vaccine such as: a naked DNA gene vaccine for colon cancer, an anti-tumor vaccine for patients with hormone responsive metastatic breast cancer, genetically engineered vaccinia virus to eradicate colon cancer and many other studies based on testing the immunization of the CEA antigen for several types of cancer.

Using genetically engineered monoclonal antibodies, chemotherapy drugs or radioactive isotopes to cure mesothelioma cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, lung, ovary and head and neck cancer, they have the best results because they use the most innovative treatments and methods.

The UAB Cancer center is recognized for the skilled oncologist, and not only, which are working intensively for their cancer patients. They have also developed a comprehensive cancer care program that offers support not only to the patients but even to their families.
